SUMMARY:Benchmarking of Resource Use and Embodied C02 in Buildings
DESCRIPTION:The increase in frequency of extreme weather events is building up the political pressure and raising the bar for C02 mitigation goals. Buildings are known to contribute over their service life for around 40% of the anthropogenic emissions. Building structure is the single highest contribution to the embodied C02. It is estimated that building design and\, particularly\, building structural design\, have a potential to mitigate 20 – 50% of the embodied C02 of buildings embodied through dematerialization. However\, so far there is no market representative benchmark demonstrating material consumption and carbon footprint for building structures. The Globe Consensus\, invites you to participate in a Workshop 13-14 February 2023 which aims to discuss minimum data for measuring and reporting materials intensity and embodied C02 of the structure of buildings\, their partitions & fa~ades as well as data exchange standards. \nProgram \n– Introduction\n– Globe Consensus background & experiences (invited presentations)\n– Organized discussions\n– Draft protocol \nDownload the full program

SUMMARY:Risk\, resilience\, and sustainability informed integrity management of infrastructure systems
DESCRIPTION:With the contributions of the speakers and the strong support of the audience\, this webinar series has received significant attention and interest. Now\, the webinar series has come to the final stage – namely the Panel Discussion. For the Panel Discussion we have invited some of the speakers from webinar together with some of the participants. The goal is to jointly identify gaps between current industry practice and academic research\, challenges and potentials in related educational areas\, to clarify the link between academic research and engineering practice\, and to solicit the potential for enhanced communication and collaboration on “Risk\, Resilience and Sustainability” informed integrity management of infrastructure systems. \nProgram\n15:00 – 15:05 Welcome Michael Havbro Faber\n15:05 – 16:05 Discussion of predetermined topics Da-Gang Lu\n16:05 – 16:25 Live Q & A Jianjun Qin\n16:25 – 16:30 Summary Michael Havbro Faber \nDiscussion Topics\n1. Which are the needs and potentials for further developments of frameworks\, methods and tools\nfor infrastructure integrity management?\n2. Are there needs and potentials for modification of\, or introduction of regulatory requirements?\n3. Which are the bottlenecks for early-stage researcher and professionals for their professional\ndevelopment?\n4. What comprises the knowledge domain of risk\, resilience and sustainability informed integrity\nmanagement of infrastructure systems and how to develop a roadmap for education and\ntraining of early-stage researchers and professionals?\n5. How to narrow down the gap between the state of art and common industry practice?
